BroadwayWorld.com recently announced the winners of the 2020 BroadwayWorld Los Angeles Awards. This year, instead of their regular awards, they did a “Best of the Decade” edition, with nominees and winners determined by public vote…and one particularly familiar name:

John Farmanesh-Bocca — Founding Artistic Director of Not Man Apart — won “Best Director of the Decade” for his work on 2016’s Tempest Redux at the Odyssey Theatre (co-produced by The Odyssey and Circus Theatricals). The production was built in John’s signature style, with breathtaking movement, wall-to-wall music, and an epic, sweeping reimagining of everything you thought you knew about The Tempest. It also featured several faces familiar to NMA audiences (like Jack Stehlin, Dash Pepin, and Briana Price, to name a few).

The production was named an LA Times Critics’ Choice and a StageRaw Top 10. It was nominated for 11 Stage Raw Awards, an LA Drama Critics’ Circle Award, and two Scenie Awards.

Congrats, John!
